It was his second big modelling job when Alex Watson stepped in front the camera for the current Silhouette campaign. Behind the camera was Neil Kirk, one of the “reasons” for Alex Watson doing the job. The primary “reason” was Silhouette as a brand – as he reveals in an interview.
Interviewer: What makes modelling special? How do you manage your life as a model and as a student?
Alex Watson: It’s just fun. I’m still in school and only a “part-time model”, so to speak. But it’s great to be able to earn some spending money, to meet interesting people and to travel.
It’s clear to me though that I want to go to university. My education takes precedence, even when it’s not always easy to bring it all together.
Interviewer: How did the collaboration with Silhouette come into existence?
Alex Watson: The idea for the campaign was introduced to me at the beginning of the year. Then I did a bit of research, checked out the website – and I was impressed; particularly by the fact that Silhouette works with NASA and is doing some extraordinary things. Plus, the eyewear is really cool. I didn’t have to spend too much time thinking about it.
When I got to the shooting and actually had the glasses in my hands and on my nose, I was completely convinced that I wanted to do the campaign. This eyewear is just so perfect, so light, so comfortable… I was really looking forward to the moment where I could put on a pair. Of course, the style is also totally unique. I like it!
Interviewer: How should we picture a shooting? What happens on the set? How does a day of shooting go down?
Alex Watson: I didn’t have school, so the day started off well. Instead of going to school in the morning, I went to the studio. I met all the other models on the set, and they all were really great. It was nice that the models were of all different ages. That showed me that Silhouette eyewear is really for everyone.
The atmosphere on the set was very relaxed and the work was a lot of fun.
